Biography
Isha Goyal spent her Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) internship at DENOS Lab building CardiCare, an artificial intelligence patient assistant for people living with coronary artery disease (CAD). CardiCare answers only from clinician approved content and refuses everything else, running entirely on an 8 GB NVIDIA Jetson so patient questions never leave the device. She is a graduate of the Renert School.

CardiCare
On-device AI patient assistant for coronary artery disease that answers from a clinician approved bank and abstains on near misses, out-of-scope questions, and emergencies.
Achievements
- Delivered zero unsafe answers across 270 test cases, refusing 55 of 55 near-miss and 22 of 22 out-of-scope questions and correctly identifying 26 of 26 emergency descriptions, while a model five times its size made two mistakes.
- Presented the poster CardiCare: AI Patient Assistant Chatbot for Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), co-authored with Jiajun Wu and Dr. Steve Drew.
- Supported by the WISE Program, Canadian Women in Energy (CWiE), and the University of Calgary.
