Biography
Ali Abbasi was a Master’s student at DENOS Lab from 2022 to 2024, completing his MSc on carbon-aware federated learning with model size adaptation in July 2024. He is the lead author of FedGreen, which measures the carbon emissions of federated training and adapts model size to each client’s carbon profile and location using ordered dropout. He is now a PhD student at the University of Southern California working on machine learning, federated learning, and optimization.
